Today I had a great opportunity to work with some awesome students from the Catlin Gable school and teach them how to personalize and make awesome ordinary clothing that they got at the thrift store. We started out by working on hoodies. I taught them an easy way to line the hood with scrap fabric. We also worked on t-shirts using scraps, zippers and other found things. I learned a lot about how to teach my skills- I wish I could do it more often!!
I got to make this amazing dress for Holly (who wears it beautifully) when she got married in the fall of 2009. We designed it together, based on a dress she tried on at a vintage store that she liked. She wanted something that would fit her perfectly. New fabric was combined with a vintage lace prom dress to create this gown
I've been making lingerie-what fun! Looking forward to experimenting with more colors and fabrics, making undies and elaborate bustiers. Look for lots more soon!
I hate waste. I find use in every little bit and scrap. I make clothes out of beautifully ripped and stained slips, ready for the trash. I restore moth eaten ballgowns to their former luminescence. I create one of a kind garments that fit the wearer and their personality perfectly. I love ruffles. I make wedding dresses for people that are in love. I make coats for people that are cold. I make bags for people that have lots of stuff. I make stuffed animals for people that are lonely. I hem pants for people that have shrunk. I can make you anything you desire.
My clothing is available by request and at Ladybirds General Store in North Portland at 728 N Alberta st.
